Jones joined the staff
at Florida Atlantic University and made the transition into the Sun
Belt Conference in the fall of 2004. During her tenure at FAU, Jones
has headed the distance program and has coached the women to a one,
two, three sweep of the 1650 free at the 2005, 2006, and 2007 Sun Belt
Conference Championship meets.
Jones comes to the Owls after serving as
the head women's swimming and diving coach at Georgia Southern
University. In the first season with the Eagles, the team improved to
earn a third place finish at the Southern State Championship meet.
Guiding the team into the Northeast Conference in 2004, she saw her
team break records and finish third at the conference championships.
In Jones’ short time with the Eagles she turned the program around and
led the team to a winning record in her two seasons at the helm of the
program.
Before gaining her head coaching position
at Georgia Southern, Jones headed the Maclay Swim club in Tallahassee,
FL, and was assisting with the Maclay High Scholl program. While in
Tallahassee, Jones obtained her masters degree from Florida State
University in Sport Management.
Jones got her first collegiate experience
at her alma mater, the College of Charleston, where she served as an
assistant coach after graduating in 1999. While attending the CofC she
was on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and the Academic
Distinguished
List, was a team co-captain for the 1997-1999 seasons, and served as a
co-president of the Student Athlete Advisory Board.
