About Us

Steve Eckelkamp has been the head swimming coach at Florida Atlantic University since 1989.  His coaching career began in Minnesota in 1976 at the St. Paul Athletic Club.  Since then he has coached at the age group, Jr. College and University level where he has produced well over 100 All Americans, Olympic qualifiers and conference champions.  He has also served on numerous National team staffs for the United States with the most recent appointment to the 2006 Short Course Championships in Shanghai, China.

Steve's background in Aquatics does not just include the pool. Canoeing , Kayaking, Scuba diving are but of few areas that he has competed in at the elite level.  A former World Record holder in the Guinness book for canoeing the Mississippi river along with the attempt to Kayak the entire Amazon river for Guinness are but a few of his past experiences.

From being a counselor at Scouts camps in his youth to Swim camps and now Fast Pace Camps Steve has over 25 years of camp experience.

Fast Pace grew out of an idea to expand the camping experience to include an integration of both Aquatic and non Aquatic activities in a well balanced schedule designed to maximize the non pool activities before it becomes too hot in the Florida Sunshine with the pool and indoor activities to achieve a good camping experience for your child. The Fast Pace Camp started in the year 2000, and will begin the 8th year of operation this summer in 2008.
